Whether you’re just beginning your theatre journey or are an experienced performer looking to enhance your skills, these sessions are tailored for you.
Led by passionate theatre practitioner Tafar Chia Lewis, this masterclass series offers immersive, hands-on experiences:
- In the Directing workshop, you’ll learn how to bring stories to life from script to stage, focusing on storytelling through staging, actor direction, and collaboration.
- The Improv workshop will sharpen your ability to think on your feet, define your voice, and build confidence in unscripted performances.
- In the Playmaking session, you’ll discover how to turn your ideas into original theatrical works, learning the techniques to craft compelling narratives.
No matter where you are in your artistic journey, you’ll leave with practical skills you can immediately apply to your work. Join us for this transformative series and elevate your voice in the world of theatre!

Tafar Chia Lewis is a dynamic and venturesome force in the world of theatre—a multifaceted actress, dramaturg, director, and writer. As the visionary founder of Teatro Journee, a groundbreaking Caribbean performing arts organization, Tafar has carved a unique space for herself on the global stage.
She holds an MFA in Classical and Contemporary Acting from the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and previously studied Theatre at the University of the West Indies. Her training extends to Los Angeles, where she honed her craft in immersive short-story performance. Tafar’s credentials are further elevated by her role as one of the founding members of the National Theatre Arts Company of Trinidad and Tobago. Her illustrious career includes playing Juliet at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, producing and performing theatre while teaching in India, Nepal, Antigua, and Norway.
Tafar has facilitated her acting program to the Tobago Performing Arts Company for two years consecutively and currently coaches some of the brightest talents in the Caribbean. As an adjunct lecturer at the University of the West Indies and lead teacher at DNA Academy, Tafar continues to shape the future of theatre. Her critically acclaimed mono-drama, “God Save the Queen,” has graced stages in Norway, Scotland, and Trinidad, while her directorial portfolio boasts over a dozen innovative productions.
