Logline: When a restless forest spirit threatens a cocoa-farming community, a guarded young woman must confront her own resistance to the land’s call, before she loses everything she loves.
Character Breakdown:
LEAD ROLES:
ZACHARY (“Zac”): Female, mid teens – early twenties. Afro-Caribbean/Black. Raised on the edge of a cocoa estate. She’s pragmatic, self- reliant, and skeptical of the old stories her father believed. She and her mother are disconnected. Holds a deep seated resentment of the life she lives.
TERRY ANN: Female, late 30s – 40s. Afro-Caribbean/Black. Zac and Ian’s mother. She is prideful and tries to make the best of the family’s situation in the community.
BRIDGY/PAPA BOIS: Male, 40s. Afro-Caribbean/Black. Two distinct characters embodied by one person. Once Zac and Ian’s short- tempered and passionate father, now reborn as the forest’s ancient guardian spirit. Both protector and punisher, he embodies the land’s memory.
SUPPORTING ROLES
IAN: Male, 6 – 10. Afro-Caribbean/Black. Zac’s younger brother. He is playful and curious.
YOUNG ZAC: Female, 6 – 10. Afro-Caribbean/Black. A younger version of Zachary.
MR. MOROUGA: Male, late 50s – 60s. Any Ethnicity. An old trickster who resides in the community. His presence is lingering even when he is not present. Smaller frame, and ideally has lots of facial hair.
DAY PLAYERS
CLAUDINE: Female, 40s – 50s. Any Ethnicity. Terry-Ann’s old friend. She is concerned about her optics in the community.
SOLOMON: Male, late 50s – 70s. Any Ethnicity. A stately elder in the community.
CONSTRUCTION WORKER: Male, 20s – 40s. Any EthnicityONLOOKER 1 & 2: M/F, 20s – 50s. Any Ethnicity.

This is a self-funded student project created as part of an academic requirement. Casting Note: Once the deadline expires, selected persons will be invited to submit self-tape auditions and/or attend virtual auditions at the Director's discretion.
