Synopsis: This emotionally rich pilot follows the journey of a talented but anxious teenage girl navigating grief, legacy, and leadership after a devastating natural disaster. Set in a culturally vibrant community rebuilding through music and youth collaboration, this story is rooted in steelpan culture, resilience, and emotional growth.
Character Breakdown:
TEEN GIRL: Female, 14–16 y/o, Caribbean/Mixed. Soft-spoken, gifted, and burdened by expectations. She struggles with anxiety, imposter syndrome, and fear of failure. Ability to play steelpan will be an asset, but is not required.
BEST FRIEND: Female, 14–16 y/o, Caribbean – Amerindian/ Garifuna Heritage preferred. The Main Chararcter’s bold, creative, and loyal best friend. Funny, intuitive, and deeply proud of her cultural roots. She supports the MC but has her own personal boundaries and leadership instincts.
TEEN BOY: Male, 14–16 y/o, Caribbean. Rebellious, smart, and passionate—He masks pain with bravado. Lives in an underserved community. He challenges the MC but ultimately becomes her ally. Musical skill is a bonus (steelpan or any percussive instrument)
FATHER: Male, 40s–50s, Caribbean. MC’s father. Now quiet and soulful. Strong presence with few words. His emotional impact must resonate even in stillness and later in recovery scenes.
MOTHER: Female, 40s–50s, Caribbean. A dedicated nurse and resilient wife. Loving but stern, She is the glue that holds the family together. She expects excellence but struggles to communicate vulnerability.
GRANDPARENT: M/F, 60s–70s, Caribbean. Deeply spiritual, witty, and full of wisdom. Their presence is small but impactful. Think emotional anchor with ancestral resonance. Languages/Dialects: Patois or light Trini creole a plus.
YOUTH PANSIDE MEMBERS: Any gender, teens – mid 20s. Expressive face. Any ethnicity, any body type.
YOUTH CLASSICAL BAND MEMBER: Any gender, teens – mid 20s. Expressive face. Any ethnicity, any body type.
