Title: Green Days by the River

Synopsis: Adapted from Michael Anthony’s novel of the same name, Green Days by the River is a Caribbean coming of age story, reflecting Trinidadian life and culture of a bygone era.

Character Breakdown:

MALE ROLES

  • SHELL– Male, mid teens – early 20s, of Afro-Caribbean descent. The main character of the story and struggles to balance his feelings with his obligations.
  • PA LAMMY-Male, mid 30s – early 50s, of Afro-Caribbean descent. Shell’s ailing father.
  • FREDDIE – Male, late teens – late 20s. Friend of Shell, older than the other boys in the village.
  • LENNARD – Male, mid teens – early 20s, of Afro-Caribbean descent. Tall with a lean build. Friend of Shell.
  • JOE– Male, mid teens – early 20s, Afro-Caribbean descent. Muscular build. Friend of Shell.

FEMALE ROLES

  • MA LAMMY – Female, late 30s – mid 50s, of Afro-Caribbean descent. Shell’s mother.
  • JOAN – Female, mid teens – early 20s, of Afro-Caribbean descent. Vibrant and outgoing.
  • ROSALIE – Female, mid teens – early 20s, East-Indian/Dougla/Mixed. Reserved at times. The daughter of Mr. Gidharee
  • MARIE GIDHAREE – Female, mid 40s – late 50s, of Afro-Caribbean descent. Wife of Mr. Gidharee and mother of Rosalie.

Preparation: Interested persons are asked to submit ONE (1) CLOSE UP and ONE (1) FULL-LENGTH photo of themselves (No hats or sunglasses. Your face must be clearly visible), along with the following:

Please also prepare a brief monologue no longer than 10 minutes to perform at the live auditions.
