Description:  Fela Oke’s Hyphen8 is offering a comprehensive and immersive 2-week intensive acting program designed to equip actors with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the industry. Led by experienced industry professionals – Greta Mendez and Darren Gordon, with a Special Guest Masterclass by Hollywood Actor, Denim Richards.

Week 1: Foundation of Acting

  • Introduction to acting techniques: Stanislavski method, Meisner technique, and more.
  • Character development: Understanding and embodying characters.
  • Improvisation and spontaneity: Building confidence and flexibility.
  • Voice and speech training: Developing vocal range, projection, and articulation.
  • Movement and physicality: Utilizing body language and expressiveness.

Week 2: Advanced Acting Techniques and Practical Applications

  • Scene study: Analyzing scripts, understanding subtext, and delivering authentic performances.
  • Emotional range: Exploring different emotions and effectively expressing them on stage or screen.
  • Audition techniques: Mastering the art of auditions, cold readings, and monologues.
  • Acting for Screen: Techniques for acting in front of cameras, understanding camera angles, and maintaining consistency.
  • Industry insights: Guest speakers, Q&A sessions, and discussions on the business side of acting.

This program provides a unique opportunity for participants to refine their acting techniques, enhance performance abilities, develop a professional portfolio, and gain invaluable insights into the world of acting.


Duration: 15th – 28th January, 2024

Facilitator: Greta Mendez

Renowned as a Performance Art artist, Theatre & Movement Director, Dance & Drama Tutor, Carnivalist, and Producer, Greta Mendez has left an indelible mark on the global stage. With an extensive career spanning the UK, Greece, Italy, China, India, Kashmir, Indonesia as well as Trinidad & Tobago, Mendez’s artistic journey knows no bounds.

Greta Mendez has worked with some of the leading young actors today, including, John Boyega, Letitia Wright, Malachi Kirby and many more.

Her achievements include winning the Director’s title for ‘OPHELIA’ at IFFPIE –International Film Festival for Peace, Inspiration & Equality, earning a Platinum Award for Best Newcomer Director for Documentary & Short International Movie, and securing two BEFFTA awards in 2010. Additionally, she received accolades such as the Trinidad & Tobago High Commission 50th Anniversary Award, the BP & National Westminster Dance & Mime Award, and a Gold Medal at the New York International Film and Video Award.


Facilitator: Darren Gordon

A Director, Agent and Acting Coach, Darren has, and continues to work, with an ever increasing amount of high profile clients and industry professionals in the UK and beyond. In 2020 he decided to become a full time agent and has overseen members of his cohort secure significant roles in major productions and more.

In addition to Screen Acting, Darren will facilitate Meisner technique, script analysis, Understanding and embodying character and accessing emotion.


Facilitator: Denim Richards

Denim Richards has been performing for over two decades with numerous TV, film and musical theater credits under his belt.

He can currently be seen in the role of ‘Colby’ opposite Kevin Costner in the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone”. Additionally, Denim can be seen in the Netflix feature film “The Chickasaw Rancher” as ‘Jack Brown’ which tells the remarkable story inspired by the life of renowned Chickasaw cattleman Montford T. Johnson.

In 2006, Denim took first place in acting and singing in the Los Angeles NAACP competition. He went on to take fourth in nationals. For those who knew him well, the accolades came as no surprise. Denim found his passion for the arts when he was just six years old while performing as a guest soloist at the world-renowned Crystal Cathedral. Since then, he has never looked back. Through his acting, Denim loves to guide audiences through a range of emotions that leave them feeling uplifted and inspired. He is often attracted to roles that require extreme character development and vocal ability.

  • Adults: $1,950 TTD ($300 Registration + $1,650 Tuition)
