Description:

This November, First Instinct will host its first Theatrical Bootcamp and promises an experience that is distinct from anything offered by universities or traditional workshops. The workshop series is tailored for a diverse audience, including performers, influencers, content creators, beginners, professionals, and those with a curiosity for the creative arts.

Participants will have the opportunity to select any combination of the following workshops:

  1. The Art of Self: Level 1 (15 Classes)
  2. Practical Acting & Drama Intensive (10 Classes)
  3. The Voice: Confidence and Craft (designed for public and private speakers) (5 Classes)

These courses will be facilitated using engaging and active techniques drawn from the world of acting and theater. Participants can expect to engage in physical exercises, open discussions, meditation, group activities, voice training, critical thinking exercises, and more.

Whether you’re looking to express yourself, meet new people from diverse backgrounds, take some time for self-discovery, or simply kickstart the new year, these workshops have something for everyone. So, are these workshops right for you? Absolutely!

  • Orientation: Saturday 4th November, 2023

The Art of Self: 6th November – 8th December, 2023.

  • Teens: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays – 3:30PM – 5:30PM
  • Adults: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays – 6PM to 9PM

Practical Acting & Drama Intensive: 7th November – 7th December, 2023

  • Teens: Tuesdays & Thursdays – 3:30PM – 5:30PM
  • Adults:  Tuesdays & Thursdays  – 6PM – 9PM

The Voice: Confidence & Craft: Sunday 5th November – Sunday 3rd December, 2023

  • Teens: Sundays – 10AM – 12 NOON
  • Adults: Sundays – 1PM – 3PM

Facilitator: Trevon C. Jugmohan

Trevon C. Jugmohan is an actor, producer and director who boasts a remarkable 18-year journey in the world of the performing arts. Throughout his illustrious career, he has worn many hats. Most notably he was the producer and designer with JCS Entertainment, in musicals like ‘The Sound of Music (2012),’ ‘The King and I (2013),’ ‘Jesus Christ Superstar (2014; 2016),’ ‘Mahalia: A Gospel Musical (2015; 2016),’ and ‘Altar Boyz (2016).’ He has also been involved in over 25 comedies and other productions with Raymond Choo Kong Productions, including ‘The Ramleela’, ‘DIVA’ and several other projects.

Trevon’s outstanding contributions to the field have been recognized with the Achievement in Musical Theater Award by The National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA). He’s directed several plays and films, including ‘Mightier dan de Sun (2020),’ ‘The Lion in Winter (2020),’ ‘Tom, Dick and Harry (2021)’, and ‘Senor Raja’s LOVE Extravaganza (2023),’ which he also wrote.

Beyond the stage, Jugmohan has served as an Arts Educator with the Trinidad Theatre Workshop, Patrons of the Arts Foundation, and various NGOs. He has also lent his acting skills to numerous commercial campaigns, appeared in films like ‘Cutlass (2016)’ and ‘Love in 7 Movements (2021),’ and served as a technical coordinator for Kathak Kala Sangam. As a versatile artist, stand-up comedian, and consulting producer & director, Trevon continues to make an indelible mark on the world of performing arts.


Cost:

  • THE VOICE: Confidence and Craft: $500 TTD (Teens) | $500 TTD (Adults)
  • PRACTICAL ACTING & DRAMA INTENSIVE: $800 TTD (Teens) | $1,200 TTD (Adults)
  • THE ART OF SELF: $1,000 TTD (Teens) | $1,500 TTD (Adults)

Scholarships: Five (5) spots per class are available for participants who have a deep interest in this journey, but require financial assistance. If you are in need of this type of support, please contact First Instinct directly for further info to access the scholarship.


Participant Checklist:

In preparation for the workshop, all participants are required to bring the following items:

  1. Comfortable Attire: Please ensure that you have a change of comfortable clothing specifically for class. Participants will not be permitted to attend the session in street attire.
  2. Journal: You will need a quality notebook for daily note-taking and creative exercises. Please refrain from using a cellphone for this purpose.
  3. Writing Tools: Bring two pencils and a sharpener for note-taking and activities.
  4. Pens: Two pens will be handy for various writing exercises and tasks.
  5. Hydration and Snacks: It’s important to stay refreshed and energized during the session, so please remember to bring a water bottle and a small snack.

These items are essential to ensure that you have a productive and comfortable learning experience during the workshop.

Additional Information:

Upon successful completion of each course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. Furthermore, participants who opt to engage in and successfully complete all three courses will be granted a Certificate of Merit.
