Job Title: Casting Assistant
Employment Status: Part-Time
Job Summary:
The Casting Assistant(s) shall work closely with the Network’s Head of Casting, and provide general and administrative support with specific casting related projects. The Casting Assistant will generally work remotely during the pre-production phase of any given project, but may from time to time be required on set/location during the production phase of the project.
Key Duties:
The duties of the Casting Assistant(s) shall vary according to the scale and budget of each casting project, and depend on what is specifically required of the Assistant(s) on any given project. These duties shall include:
- Processing any and all submissions received via the Theatrebuzz Callboard;
- Sharing casting calls across various social media platforms;
- Researching and communicating with upcoming producers/projects that may require casting support.
The Casting Assistant(s) MAY also be required to perform any combination of the following:
- Reading the script and liaising with Casting Director to create loglines and character breakdowns;
- Carrying out availability checks with the potential cast, setting up and booking auditions and managing general enquiries;
- Assisting in scouting for new and emerging talent;
- Preparing and distributing audition materials to actors, artists and agents in advance of auditions;
- Providing reception services and general support at auditions;
- Managing the technical mechanics for video and/or audio recordings at live auditions;
- Managing video auditions and interviews carried out by artists remotely;
- Managing the databases of artists, agents and clients;
- Liaising with the Casting Director to shortlist artists and preparing Casting Dossiers;
- Ensuring that all Contracts, Deal Memos and Talent Release Forms are signed before the artist begins work;
- Providing general talent related support on set;
- Following up with artists to ensure they have submitted their banking information and invoice for payment;
- Acting as the liaison between the Casting Director and the artist/agents from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate should:
- Be a ‘people person’ and able to demonstrate patience, kindness and respect at all times;
- Own a laptop, tablet or smart device with access to the internet;
- Be proficient in English, and have strong written and oral communication skills;
- Be PROACTIVE, punctual & reliable, and be able to work remotely without supervision;
- Have an avid interest in theatre or film;
- Have an eye for talent;
- Be a quick thinker, and be able to maintain a calm demeanour & work efficiently under pressure;
- Be discreet, professional and honor confidentiality;
- Be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office;
- Proficiency in Canva (or any other design tools), Jotform, Zoom, WhatsApp and various social media platforms would be an asset, but may not be necessary;
- Proficiency in a second language (Spanish or French) will be an asset but may not be necessary;
- Practical experience in theatre and/or film production would be an asset, but may not be necessary.
Compensation: The Casting Assistant(s) will be paid based on the combination of services rendered per project.

- The first name, last name and close up photo of the local actor/talent/person you’d cast in each role;
- The names and photos of the actual actors that have been cast in these same roles;
