Film Making Workshop | Making The Documentary (Closed)

Host: Filmmakers Collaborative of Trinidad and Tobago (FILMCO)

Presents: Making The Documentary

Discipline: Film Production

Skill Level: Beginners – Intermediate

Description: Documentaries teach us about our fascinating and complex world. They allow us to meet people we may never encounter in our lives, see unimaginable places and learn about issues that urgently need our care. The non-fiction filmmaker is a keen storyteller who is driven to explore and tell such stories, but contrary to the belief that is held by some, doc filmmaking is far from being a scattered process.

FILMCO is pleased to present this online five-week workshop in documentary filmmaking with Christopher Laird. This hands-on six-session instruction with Laird will take participants through the different stages of making your doc. Christopher will discuss the practical elements involved in producing professional documentaries, such as concepts, pre-pro, scripting, filming and post-production. Participants will also have the opportunity to create a documentary over the course of the workshop. Here they will benefit from Laird’s 40 years of experience- mentorship in an intimate and supportive environment.

NOTE: Please note that this workshop will not teach participants about fundraising, marketing or distribution for documentary films.

Duration:  12th August – 10th September 2020
