Title: Barray (Short Film)

Genre: Suspense/Thriller

Synopsis: Set during a time where a mysterious and deadly virus infects and kills most of Trinidad and Tobago’s population, a group of teens retreat to a forest, seeking refuge away from the rest of civilization and hopefully the virus. With dwindling supplies and one of their friends presumed dead, the group attempts to survive the forest inhabited by killer creatures.

Character Breakdown

** JADEN: Male, 17 – 20 y/o, any ethnicity.  Has a natural leadership quality about him. Slender but can put up a fight. He is dealing with a tragic loss but tries to hide his pain. You can’t risk being too vulnerable when you’re trying to survive. (Uses Trini Dialect).

**ALYSSA: Female, 16 – 20 y/o, any ethnicity. She is 17 years old and is still quite immature. She is brazen, loud and impatient yet caring when she needs to be. Although she’s pretty skinny, you wouldn’t want to be on her bad side. (Uses Trini Dialect).

VICKY: Female, 17 – 20 y/o, any ethnicity. Nurturing and very smart. Someone that you can really depend on in a tight situation. She has her head on right! (Uses Trini Dialect)

MICHAEL: Male, 17 – 20 y/o, any ethnicity Tall, caring, very articulate and has an approachable personality. (Doesn’t use Trini Dialect).

LAILA: Female, 8 – 11 y/o, any ethnicity. Naturally inquisitive. (Uses Trini Dialect).

RYAN: Male, 17 – 20 y/o, any ethnicity. Headstrong and has a personality that demands attention. (Uses Trini Dialect).

BARRAY: Males and Females, 17 – 20 y/o, any ethnicity. Barrays are vicious cannibalistic creatures hell bent on satiating their craving for human flesh. (Non-Speaking Role)

Thanks for taking an interest in acting in my short film. Lemme tell you a bit about myself!

My name is Jayson Jaskeran, known professionally as J. H. Jaskeran, and I’m currently 18 years old. I’m an aspiring filmmaker and I would like to push my skills forward by taking on a project like this. I’ve had so much fun making the script so far and I’m excited to work with all of you incredible actors and truly learn from this experience and create a piece of work that we can all be proud of.

Due to the near non existent budget of this film, actors will not be paid but can instead use this role as experience and content for their acting reels and portfolios. This short film will be submitted to the 2020 Trinidad Film Festival if finished on time. Please keep this in mind! We shall also pay the price of admission for any location that we film at if required. Food shall also be provided on the days of shooting. The filming window should be somewhere between April and May. Filming dates shall be finalized closer to this date.

Also please note that this film is being produced in SOUTH TRINIDAD, so please keep that in mind when applying for this project.
