Title: RED
Synopsis: RED is a ‘Children’s Folk Theatre’ adaptation of the Brothers’ Grimm story Little Red Cap. The situations and characters may resemble the story Little Red Riding Cap, as well as it may introduce new ideas. The production takes place in one act.
Character Breakdown
ELIZABETH: Female; 11-13 y/o. A pleasant and happy girl on the brink of puberty. She wears her heart on her sleeve.
LIZA: Female; 35-40 y/o. Elizabeth’s mother. A single parent of two and the village washer woman. She is very hard working.
MISS PIERRY: Female; 20-30 y/o. The Narrator/Facilitator. Miss Pierry interacts with the
audience but is also present in the world of the play.SIR GAROU: Male; 25-30 y/o. A man/Lagahoo. He is the villain and enjoys stealing happiness.
LORRAINE: Female; 65-70 y/o. Elizabeth’s Grandmother. She is blind but very independent. She loves her family.
PAPA BOIS: Male; 35-45 y/o. Lives in and protects the forest. He guides and assists Elizabeth on her journey.
MISS JULIE: Female; 40-45 y/o. A mango vendor and friend to Lorraine and her family.
DOUENS: 11-13 y/o. A singing and dancing trio that lives in the forest and assists with the progression of the plot.
