For: Children (7 – 17 y/o)

Description: iCaribbean is our annual cultural arts camp where we carry children on a journey through music, drama, storytelling, dance, art and life skills to aid with self-discovery and confidence, whilst, imparting knowledge of the rich history of the Caribbean.

We believe in creating a safe space for children to create, play, imagine and dream. This year our programme’s curriculum is designed from the cultural traditions, history of Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, and Haiti and will be explored through music, theatre, dance, and visual art. Campers are encouraged to be innovative in moving forward as the future of the Caribbean.

Duration: Monday 16th  – Tuesday 31st July 2018

Camp Director:  Tafar Chia

Tafar Chia LewisTafar Chia is the Founder of Teatro Journee. She is an actress and theatre-maker with a Bachelor’s in Theatre Arts from the University of The West Indies.

She pursued acting in Los Angeles, served as a resident player of the National Theatre Arts Company of Trinidad and Tobago, and has acted in productions in India, America, and the Caribbean.

Tafar is committed to creating festivals, arts educative programs, plays, characters, and various community projects that are centered on facilitating positive social change and empowering individuals, and has managed all five of Teatro Journee’s camp called iCaribbean.
