Description: In this workshop, Smart Aleks partners with Marketing & Sustainability Specialist Leslie-Ann Beckles to offer a workshop specifically for those working in, or intending to work in the creative sector. We’ll provide information and tips on the methodology needed to make a viable career out of your craft.

Keir Roopnarine
Keir is a learning scientist, entrepreneur and co-founder of Smart Aleks Education Ltd.
She holds a BSc. in Molecular Biology from Florida Institute of Technology, and a MSc. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, where she specialised in Learning Sciences and Technologies. Keir has been teaching both in and out of the classroom since 2010.
As a teacher, tutor, and lifelong advocate for women’s and children’s rights, her involvement in advocacy and focus on youth issues has led her to work with organisations such as the UNFPA, and the Hindu Women’s Organisation, where she currently holds the post of Secretary.
Keir actively supports education for sexual and reproductive health and rights, and is also heavily involved in work against gender-based and domestic violence. You can find her working regularly with secondary schools, NGOs and theatre arts groups such as the Griot Guild and the.art.IS.

Leslie-Ann Beckles
Leslie-Ann Beckles is very passionate about the creative sector. She has been part of the performing arts since she was eight (8) years old as a singer, actress, in film, on stage and even backstage which gives her a holistic view of the sector.
Upon completion of her Marketing studies at COSTAATT and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, she decided to combine both areas in order to develop a sustainable industry.
She has worked with clients such as Trinidad
Theatre Workshop, Encore Productions, Sanctuary Productions and Sovereign City Entertainment to name a few.
She is an advocate for the sector and continuously promotes it to non-creatives through educating them about the value of it.
She hopes one day that all creatives will be able to enjoy a profitable career by pursuing their craft!
