Title: “No Face No Vote”

Synopsis: No Face No Vote is a based on the events surrounding the death of Dr. Eric Eustace Williams – the first Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

The year was 1981, an election year in Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Eric Williams’ death, together with the elections, the emergence of a new political party – the Organization of National Reconstruction (ONR), and the mood of the electorate at the time, fuelled much political discord. Rumours and allegations surrounding Dr. Williams’ death spread throughout the electorate. Although his body did lie in state, citizens were not permitted to see his face. This was his wish. The masses then gathered in Woodford Square shouting “No Face No Vote” and the riot squad had to be called out to restore order.
