Dates | Times: Mondays – Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Camp Description: Participants will be introduced to the basics of film making along with fundamentals of Spanish so that they will be able to produce a short film in Spanish. Not only will participants explore their creativity, they will learn how important bilingualism is in this every changing world. Each camp session closes with a film screening to showcase the participants’ work and camp concert.
Location: University of the Southern Caribbean Campus, Maracas Valley, St. Joseph
Camp Director: Shelley-Ann Edwards-Barran
Mrs. Edwards-Barran worked with the Secondary School Short Film Festival hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company. Schools in her zone have won most dramatic film and best environmental film, among other awards. The team she worked with for the Community Film Festival won best actress, best film, and best script in 2012. In addition, Mrs. Edwards-Barran works with native Spanish speakers as an English as a Second Language instructor. These native speakers will be incorporated in the camp to provide participants with authentic Spanish language interaction.
